Nutiva unveils hempseed product and superfood smoothies

California-based nutrition brand Nutiva has released three new organic products for the US market, including a new organic hempseed product and two new plant-based protein superfood smoothies.

Nutiva claims its new hempseed is the first USDA certified organic hempseed product on the market which is grown entirely in the US.

The hempseed is vegan-friendly and can be added to smoothies, hummus, yogurt etc to provide added nutritional benefits, and the product contains 10 g of protein, 50% of the recommended daily amount of magnesium and 3 g of omega-3 per serving.

Nutiva’s new organic superfood smoothies will be available in two flavours: chocolate and vanilla, and are made from a blend of pea, pumpkin seeds, hemp and sunflower and a range of vegetables including broccoli and beets.

Each serving delivers 21-22 grams of plant-based protein, one billion probiotic CFUs and 12 vitamins, and the smoothies are soy-free, dairy-free and gluten-free.

John Roulac, founder and chief visionary officer of Nutiva said: “The launch of our new USA-Grown Organic Hempseed and Organic Plant Protein Superfood Smoothies further establish Nutiva as a pioneer in the industrial hemp and organic superfoods categories.

“We were the first organic hempseed brand on the market and have advocated and battled for industrial hemp for nearly 20 years, so we’re proud to launch our groundbreaking organic shelled hempseed product, the first that’s grown entirely in the United States from a national organic brand.

“Our new USA-Grown Organic Hempseed and Organic Plant Protein Superfood Smoothies continue our dedication to bring nutrient-dense organic foods like hemp and plant-based protein made without chemicals or GMOs to all Americans, while supporting the U.S. hemp farmers here at home.”

The Organic Hempseed range will be available in 10 oz and 24 oz bags from selected US retailers from February, while the Organic Plant Protein Superfood Smoothies will be available in 21.9 oz tubs and will go on sale in US stores from March.
