Do you know that Plant based eating can increase life span?
Consuming meat and other animal products is associated with shortened life expectancy. Eating meat increases the health risk for certain disease as the result of saturated fat, trans fats, arachidonic acid, and heme iron. Furthermore, meat, fish, dairy products and eggs increase human exposure to antibiotic-resistant bacteria because animals often are on antibiotic treatments. Also, these foods contain industrial pollutants including mercury and other toxic heavy metals such as cadmium. These foods are sources of estrogenic carcinogens which are formed when meat is cooked at high temperatures
And now someone will ask if I don’t eat meat or meat products, dairy, and eggs how I will get enough protein. Contrary to popular myth, most vegans get more than enough protein because a plant based food is rich in protein. See more on Vegan sources of protein.
People how are following a plant based lifestyle are healthier and have normal blood pressure, cholesterol and insulin levels.
Blood Pressure
Most people living a plant-based diet have lower blood pressure because of a higher intake of potassium-rich foods. This mineral helps lower blood pressure that leads to stress and anxiety. All fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, contain high amounts of Vitamin B6 and potassium. Vitamin B6 is also beneficial for lower blood pressure. On the other hand meat and almost all animal foods contain little to no potassium and actually increase blood pressure and cholesterol.
Plant based food doesn’t contain Cholesterol
Plants don’t contain cholesterol. This is maybe the biggest health benefits of all. So if you have high cholesterol, a plant-based diet is one of the simplest ways to lower it. Plant based foods like whole grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits, can actually lower rates of heart disease.
Blood Sugar Control
Plants are rich in fiber which is beneficial for decreasing of the high blood sugar. Dietary fiber slows down the absorption of sugars in the bloodstream and can regulate starving. Contrary animal foods raise blood sugar, despite the myth that they help fight it.
Plant based eating influence on your body shape and look, it helps for reducing the abdominal fat, acne, aging, cellulite, eczema, waist circumference and weight control. This diet eliminates body odor, reduces allergies, asthma, childhood IQ, cognition, dysmenorrhea, gut flora, fibromyalgia, kidney stones, metabolic syndrome, menstrual breast pain, mood, multiple sclerosis, oral health, rheumatoid arthritis. Even just small steps toward eating more fruit and vegetables may lengthen lifespan.
However, there are two vitamins which are not found in plants: Vitamin D, and Vitamin B-12. But you shouldn’t worry because humans get Vitamin D with adequate sun exposure, while Vitamin B-12 is made by microbes in our intestines if we eat food rich in cobalt. However, there is a serious risk of B-12 deficiency if B-12 supplements or B-12-fortified foods are not consumed on a regular basis. Calcium, iodine, zinc, and omega 3 fatty acids are other nutrients that deserve consideration.
A plant based lifestyle is more economical, especially if you eat in-season and eat local produce. You can try gardening by your own. By filling your plate up with healthy stuff, there will be less room for the acidic animal foods that leave you sluggish and without energy.
Always choose organic whole foods for optimal health benefits of this diet.
